Hailed by Michael Redmond of The Newark Star-Ledger as possessing “a voice of unusually lustrous quality," Sarah Miller most recently appeared as Sarah/Sari in the Bard SummerScape Music Festival production of Noël Coward’s Bitter Sweet directed by Michael Gieleta and conducted by James Bagwell. Erik Haagensen of “Backstage" praised both her performance and her voice, calling her singing “glorious." Other recent engagements include Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at Whitman Hall in Brooklyn, Lady Verena in Center for Contemporary Opera’s world premiere production of The Secret Agent by Michael Dellaira, conducted by Sara Jobin and directed by Sam Helfrich, and the title role in Carmen at Whitman Hall in Brooklyn with Maestro Richard Barrett. Ms. Miller has thrilled audiences with her concert and recital performances in many of America’s most prestigious venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Symphony Space, Merkin Hall and the Danny Kaye Playhouse in New York City, Symphony Hall in Newark, New Jersey and the Broward Performing Arts Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with the Florida Philharmonic.

Some of Ms. Miller’s other roles are Serafina in Donizetti’s Il campanello di notte and the 2nd Woman/Attendant in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, both with New York Chamber Opera conducted by Lucy Arner, Donna Donna in P.D.Q. Bach’s The Abduction of Figaro with Maestro Glen Cortese with Oregon Mozart Players and Donna Elvira in Opera Music Theater International’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, a company for which she also sang under the baton of Julius Rudel in Gounod’s Faust.

As a Young Artist with the Florida Grand Opera Young Artist Studio, Ms. Miller performed Countess Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Maestro Richard Bonynge, Zena in Janácek’s Katya Kabanova, Javotte in Massenet’s Manon, and Tisbe in La Cenerentola conducted by Stewart Robertson. After completing the FGO Young Artist Studio program, Ms. Miller was asked back as a guest soloist to sing the role of Xenia in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov with James Morris in the title role. While a student at Brooklyn College Conservatory, she performed the role of Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. In addition, Ms. Miller was a participant in Joan Dornemann’s Israel Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where she performed the role of Charlotte in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music.

Sarah Miller was a Connecticut Opera Competition Finalist 2003, the FGO Gilbert Artist 2002, and the YPO Vocal Competition 2nd Prize Winner 2001. She has received two Metropolitan National Council Audition Encouragement Awards.

Upcoming engagements include a reprisal of Lady Verena in The Secret Agent as a part of the Armel Festival in Fall 2011 in Szeged, Hungary. The European performances of The Secret Agent will be internationally broadcast on the Mezzo Network, live throughout Europe.
